I Don’t Wanna Write A Blog

I Don’t Wanna Write A Blog

There are times when I don’t want to do something like go to the gym, do the laundry, make the phone call, or yes, even write a blog. My story generally goes something like “I’m just not feeling it.” And, you know what? In that moment, it’s the truth. I’m really not feeling it.

So, what’s the right thing to do in that moment? Do I power through to do it anyway, or do I go with not feeling it and not do it?

There is a really simple answer that actually comes in the form of a question.

What’s the outcome (or WTO)?  What’s The Outcome?

Your outcome will make it really clear what the next step is for most situations. We can all create some really convincing stories in our minds about why we don’t want to do something. However, you can’t hide from the outcome.

And, think about how it feels when you go against your outcome. There are often feelings of regret and wishing you would have. On the other hand, when you take action toward your outcome, there is a sense of accomplishment and pride.

My outcome is a completed blog. I am 100% at choice as to how to make that happen.

I could ask someone else to write a guest blog. (Any volunteers for a future one?)

I could share someone else’s blog that complements our High5 messaging. (Hmmm, that’s an idea I hadn’t thought of until now. See what happens when the creative juices start flowing?)

I could push through, and get it done. (This approach often works for me with things like laundry. It’s not so awesome for creative endeavors like blogs.)

OR, I could write about something that’s real to me, in that moment, and when I do, it always starts to flow (like writing a blog about not writing a blog).

Now, I’ve got a completed blog. I feel good about myself. And we all have a reminder to stay focused on our outcomes. Our answer lies in the outcome, and the outcome will never lie to you.

WTO?

Do you know what your outcomes are? Often, we don’t set outcomes because we’re afraid we won’t accomplish them. So, rather than be disappointed we just don’t set any. How’s that working for you? Are you experiencing the life you truly want to experience? It’s available! Take it from someone who has seen the difference. I promise you it’s possible.

If you are ready to set some outcomes and experience more joy in your life, let’s talk. Email me at barb@high5leadership.com to schedule your call.
